For hunters and fishermen, our motel is the perfect place to stay. Access thousands of acres of state land via trails from our grounds. The nearby woods are teeming with turkey, deer, game birds, and other wildlife. Take a hike or drive to the Schroon River. Most of the area consists of state land open to all.
For a challenging yet short hike, head to Mount Severance across the road. Enjoy breathtaking views of Schroon Lake.
Mountain bikers are in luck with the established trail system in North Hudson's old Frontier Town tract. These trails also serve as snowshoe and cross-country ski trails in winter. They are safe and gently sloped. Though not as challenging as the High Peaks, they are ideal for casual hikers or families looking for hassle-free woodland adventures.

Take a boat out, head to one of the beaches for swim, or have a relaxing day in the sun during the summer months. Schroon Lake Marina has you covered with everything from fishing boats to deck boats and everything in between! Got your own boat? Launch from their for the day!
Just a short drive away, you can explore the Adirondacks on a railbike with Revolution Rail Co. Cross rivers, ride through the woods, and take it all in. Don't forget your cooler!
Experience a captivating journey through three pivotal locations from our nation's history. Discover Fort Ticonderoga and Fort William Henry to the east and south - two forts brimming with tales from the Revolutionary War. Then, venture up north to explore the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Facilities, the iconic site of the Miracle on Ice.

Whether you ski or snowboard, there are so man great spots to do it. Hope over to Cunningham's Ski Barn or The Mountaineer to grab some ski's or snowboards and hit the slopes at Whiteface Mountain or Gore Mountain nearby to enjoy some powder!
One of the best ways to experience the adirondacks is on a snowmobile and there are several fantastic establishments near us that offer great snowmobile rentals and tours. Check out Adirondack Snow Tours, Lake Placid Snowmobiling, C and C Snowmobile Tours, or Adirondack Snowmobiles for more info!
Schroon Lake is ranked #2 in the top 5 ice fishing spots in the area! Not too mention there are several excellent locations within driving distance. If you need a shanty, head on over to Schroon Lake Bait and More for a rental once the ice freezes. If you're here in March check out the annual ice fishing derby!
If downhill isn't your thing we've got a bunch of great options for our winter adventurers! There are great trails for Nordic skiing, snow shoeing, and fat tire mountain biking. If you're looking to snow shoe or ski, head over to Adirondack Mountain and Stream or Cunningham Ski Barn for rentals. If you're feeling a bit adventurous, stop by High Peaks Cyclery to rent a fat tire bike to get going on the trails!
The tallest peak in NYS with a height of 5,344 FT, Mt, Marcy is part of the High Peaks Wilderness area containing Mt. Algonquin as well (5,114 Ft). Mt. Marcy has a slue of scenic waterfalls as well as several trout fishing brooks.

The closest peak to Schroon Lake standing at 4,012 Ft. Originall named East Dix mountain, Grace is part of the Dix Range trailless peaks area. This area encompasses the peaks of Macomb Mountain, Hough Peak, and South Dix Peak. Park and start at the Elk Lake Trailhead for you best trail.

Another close peak is Giant Mountain, 4,627 Ft, There is a shuttle for hikers that runs during the summer season which you can find here . There are several trails in this wilderness area including the Ridge trail, the Giant Washbowl, and a trail to the top of Roaring Brook falls.
